Add text blocks

After creating a project, open the project and ensure the right-hand side panel is visible. If it isn’t, toggle it open using the arrow in the top right of the canvas. At the top of the panel, see a section titled “Create Blocks”.

If you are on web, click and drag the block titled “Text”. The areas where the text block is allowed to be dropped will be highlighted in blue. Drag the text block over this blue area and then drop the block. The text block will now appear on your project canvas.

If you are on mobile, tap the block titled “Text”. On mobile, this will automatically hide the right-hand side menu, revealing the canvas. Tap any blue area on the canvas to place the new text block.

Populate text blocks

Once you have added a text block to the project canvas, click the pen icon. This will allow you to enter the text inside the text block. There are two ways to enter text, manually, and using AI.

To write custom text inside the text block, select the text box that says “or write your content here”. Simply enter your text.

To use our AI to write your sources, select the text box that says “Explain to our AI…”. Enter your instructions and then press the send button on the right of the text box. (For more on AI content, see below).

When you are happy with the changes, click “Confirm” — on smaller screens this will simply be a checkmark. Only after you have clicked “Confirm”, will the changes save to the canvas.

Use AI in text blocks

AI settings

To change the settings for an individual text block, click the gear icon on the right-hand side of the text box. This opens a popup of all the available settings.

These settings allow you to control the AI output.

Generate content based on…

Select from the uploaded sources, the general knowledge of the AI, and the other blocks on the canvas.

Quality of generated content

Adjust the quality to increase or decrease the number of sources used to respond to your instructions. A higher quality will only use content that is highly related to your instructions. A lower quality will use a bigger range of content, that may be more loosely related to your instructions.

Length of generated content

Control how detailed or concise the AI’s response should be. Choose between short summaries, moderate explanations, or more in-depth, extended content to suit your needs.

Move text blocks

You are also able to move text blocks that are already on the canvas.

On web, click the ⋮⋮ icon (column of six dots) in the top left-hand corner of the block, and use as a handle to drag the block around the canvas. You are allowed to place the block in any of the highlighted blue spaces that appear when you start dragging.

On mobile, select the block to move by tapping the ⋮⋮ icon (six dots at the top left-hand corner of the block). Then, select the space to drop the block by tapping on any blue highlighted area that appears when a block is selected to move.

Copy text blocks

If you would like to duplicate a text, click the button in the top right-hand side of the text block that contains the icon with two blocks laid on top of one another. This will copy your text block and its content, and insert it just below the original block.

Delete text blocks

To delete a text block, in the top right-hand side of the block you want to delete, click the button containing the rubbish bin. Please note this action cannot be undone.

Collapsing text blocks

To collapse a text block, click the arrow in the top right of the block. To show the entire text block again, click the arrow again to show its contents.

Text in the generated document

The text blocks created in the project canvas will show as the content of your final generated document. The instructions for the AI will not show in the final document, only the AI-generated content, or your custom text.
